Therapy isn’t about fixing what’s broken—it’s about making space for what’s real. The stuck places, the strong feelings, the honest questions. It’s about rediscovering who you are beneath the fear, pressure, and pain—and beginning to live in a way that feels more grounded, more true, and more free.

I’m a therapist with over 15 years of experience, and I bring both professional training and personal depth to the work. I’ve lived through trauma, anxiety, relational pain, and spiritual struggle. I’ve had seasons where I questioned my role, my worth, even my ability to keep going. What I bring to therapy is shaped by lived experience in a way that makes me safe, present, and unafraid to walk with others into the deeper parts of their story.

I work best with emotionally intelligent, insightful people who are ready to do meaningful inner work. Many of my clients have already done some therapy or reading, but still feel stuck or overwhelmed. They’re not looking for someone to hand them a formula—they’re looking for a real relationship where they can tell the truth, slow down, and feel what they need to feel. They're ready for the kind of change that’s honest, layered, and lasting.

In our work together, I offer a grounded and collaborative space. I tend to be interactive in session—reflecting patterns, asking curious questions, and offering in-the-moment feedback when it’s helpful. My clinical approach blends insight-oriented and relational psychotherapy with evidence-based tools drawn from DBT, mindfulness, coaching, and Attachment Theory. I’ve taught DBT skills, practiced mindfulness personally for years, and used IFS in my own healing process. But beyond any technique, what I offer is presence: the kind that listens, pays attention, and doesn’t rush your process.

We may explore early experiences, unspoken beliefs, family dynamics, or protective patterns that once served you but now get in the way. We may grieve what was lost, reconnect with parts of you that were pushed aside, or rediscover your capacity for joy and freedom. This work can be messy, nonlinear, and challenging—but it can also be clarifying, transformative, and deeply relieving.

I hold space for the complexity of being human. You don’t have to show up polished. You don’t have to pretend it’s all okay. You can bring the doubts, the numbness, the inner critic, the part of you that wants more but doesn’t know how to get there. Therapy with me is not about fixing you—it’s about helping you get closer to your truest self, and learning how to live from that place.

If faith or spirituality is part of your story, I welcome it—whether it feels like a source of comfort, conflict, or both. I’m a Christian, but not one who offers spiritual answers or pushes certainty. I make space for doubt, wrestling, and all the places where belief and pain intersect. I understand what it’s like to hold faith in tension with suffering, and I honor that process in others.

Clients often tell me they feel more seen and less alone in our work. I don’t offer simple solutions, but I do offer consistent presence, thoughtful guidance, and the kind of relationship that invites real change. I value depth, honesty, and the sacred work of becoming.

If you’re ready to begin—or even just to explore whether therapy could help—I’d be honored to sit with you.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Western Washington University and my Masters in Counseling from Trinity Western University. I work in Bellingham Washington seeing individuals over 18 years old. I worked as part of a team of counselors at Bridging Counseling Ministries located near Fairhaven for 5 years until heading out on my own. I have worked in partnership with a number of churches around Whatcom, Skagit, and Island Counties. In 2008 I helped establish MiddlePath Counseling which provides DBT skills group and individual counseling.

    A bit about myself

During my free time, I enjoy engaging in various activities such as hiking on trails up at Chuckanut Mountain, The North Cascades and Mount Baker, walking Whatcom Falls Park, listening to a mix of all types of music, traveling locally in Whatcom County and the Olympic Pennisula as well as outside of the area, time with my wife and kids, and continuously learning through academics and the school of life. I also enjoy reading biographies and memoirs at coffee houses on Bellingham type of days. I have lived in Bellingham since 1996, love our local culture and believe we live in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
