    Counseling for Anxiety

“Your anxiety does not come from thinking about the future, but from wanting to control it.” -Kahlil Gibran

Are worry, anxiety and insecurity a constant unwanted part of your life?  Does panic all the sudden appear out of nowhere, or linger seemingly forever?  Does it feel like you have read every book and looked at every video to find answers and it just hasn’t worked?  Have you attempted to see a therapist before but found it useless or it just wasn’t a good fit?

If this describes you, I am confident that there is hope and that I can help.  I have seen people that struggle just like you for over 15 years.  My experience and expertise can provide hope that anxiety won’t impact you and the people closest to you anymore.  My practice can help you attain the relief you deserve.

Therapy can be the most effective way to address anxiety according to research.  Many doctors will ask their patience to try therapy before medication.  The reason for this is that in therapy you are encouraged to address not only the physical symptoms of anxiety but the reason that anxiety is present.

Often, these are the symptoms of anxiety:

    • Trouble concentrating or making decisions.
    • Feeling irritable, tense or restless.
    • Sudden outbursts at others around you
    • Experiencing nausea or abdominal distress
    • Heart palpitations
    • Trouble sleeping
    • Having a sense of impending danger, panic or doom
    • Nervousness
    • Rapid breathing, shortness of breath or hyperventilation
    • Increased or heavy sweating
    • Trembling or muscle twitching
    • Weakness or lethargy
    • Difficulty focusing or thinking clearly about anything other than the thing you’re worried about

Therapy can help to uncover the underlying causes of your worries and fears. Anxiety, like other conditions, results from a complex interaction of social, psychological and biological factors.  It can help you learn about your triggers, decrease feeling overwhelmed by life, understand yourself and your loved ones, and develop a toolbox of coping mechanisms.
